I want to challenge myself

What I’ve Worked On

I’ve worked on mainly integrating systems typically on the Microsoft platform. I’ve been heavily involved with Dynamics 365 and SharePoint. Mostly involved with .NET Frameworks and Azure. In more recent times I’ve been using Next.js to build out documentation portals with chatbot integrations.

All of this has been closed-source software.

Why I Want to Challenge Myself

Without open source software and their ubiquitous code-creation networks, firms would pay an estimated 3.5 times more to build the software and platforms that run their businesses, or roughly $8.8 trillion, say Harvard Business School assistant professor Frank Nagle and two colleagues. - Harvard Business School

Above is a quote from an interesting article and some theories on the monetary impact of open source code.

I have utilised open source code my whole career and has made me and every other developer better. I’ve done a small amount contributing to PnPCore but it’s time to get involved!

Steps to Challenging Myself

Start Small

I have landed with learning GoLang programming. I need a portfolio so why not make a markdown to HTML converter in Go?

My experience with Go has been great so far and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.

What’s Next

I’d love to contribute to projects that I use on my journey and have used in the past. This will make myself a better developer and I will have the satisfaction of giving back to such an amazing community.
